Building your own harp can give you a sense of satisfaction as well as a quality harp at an affordable price.

We offer the Cambria line of Folk Harp Kits & Plans. These are very good quality instruments, suitable for students, teachers, travelers, and those who do not wish to hock the family heirlooms just to get a harp.

The Cambria harps are compact, and travel well. Tone is superb, with excellent volume. The string band is well balanced tonally, with standard pedal harp spacing (except for the Wire string 22, which has standard spacing for a wire string harp).

The Harps

"A Classic Pair"
The Cambria Folk 29C & 34C

The Cambria Folk 34C is similar in style to the 29, but of course larger. A good concert instrument, with sufficient range for almost any purpose, C-65.4 to A-1760. Our most popular Cambria model.  It stands 50" high. Solid wood, spruce soundboard optional.

The Cambria Folk 29 is a great instrument for the student or person on a budget. Range is A-110 to A-1760. The tone is excellent. Made from walnut or cherry, with mahogany soundboard. Very popular with your students and harp teachers. It is 42.5" high.

The Cambria Nylon 22 is a small 22 string instrument. Range is A-220 to A-880 (three octaves). This is not intended to be anything but a travel instrument, useful for keeping your hand in while away from your principle instrument. Available in Stage 1 only.

The Cambria Wire 22 is the wire string companion to the Nylon 22, to be built with a hardwood soundboard, and wire string spacing. Range is middle C-130.8 to C-1046.5 (two octaves above). An excellent travel instrument, but die to its limited range, it is not intended to be one's only harp. Available Stage 1 only.

Eve Harp

The Eve Harp is our most popular model. It is a 22-string lap or knee harp, tuned from G to G. The lowest C is middle C on a piano. Because of its small size, this harp can be taken almost everywhere (even in the overhead compartment of an airplane), yet it is capable of expressive music. The limitation of the three octave range is made up for by the portability of this sweet lightweight harp. This harp is 30 inches high, 17 inches deep, and 10 inches wide and weighs 7 pounds.

finished C & F levers $755.00
finished full levers $989.00

Anne Harp

The 26 string Anne is designed to fill a growing demand for a harp between the 22 string and 29 string models. It has a Celtic shape and a range from C below middle C to the 2nd G above it. It is 35 " high and weighs 12 pounds. It has a great sound because of the larger box and low mass soundboard. Since it is sized between a lap harp and a floor harp, it will seem awkward to hold on to at first. We recommend that you get one of our Harp Stuff adjustable belts. It will make holding this harp less scary and much more fun. Being able to play all the way down to C will give this lap harp a exciting new range.

Cambria Kits

Cambria Kits, Plans & Manuals

There are a lot of people out there who want to experience the thrill of making a musical instrument with their own hands. For them we offer the line of Cambria Kits.

Cambria Kits are well designed, with extensive instruction manuals (the Stage 1-3 manuals total 54 pages!). You end up with an instrument you can be proud of.  Since people vary in their level of skill, so do the Cambria Kits. They come in three different levels (well...four, if you count the "plan only"). Note that you can buy the manuals separately so you can see which stage is best suited to your skill level.

Here is a description of the various formats available:

Plan only:  this is a full size blueprint of the harp, with basic information.  Included are string charts, helpful hints, materials lists, and data on computer parameters used in the design.  Detailed instructions are not given, and previous instrument building experience is assumed. Harp plan and manuals are not returnable.

Stage 1 kit: this is the plan, all necessary hardware & strings, and complete instruction manuals. You furnish the lumber. You will need a #4 tapered pin reamer.   Levers are optional, see prices below.

Stage 2 kit: A Stage 1, but in addition we furnish you with the lumber parts. The body carcass is assembled. You will need a good supply of clamps. The instructions detail how to make excellent clamps for very low cost. You will need a #4 tapered pin reamer.  Levers are optional, see prices below.

Stage 3 kit: We supply all lumber, parts, strings, etc. Most of the gluing and assembly is done. You have to sand it, perform final assembly, finish the instrument, and string it up. All you need to complete the Stage 3 kit is sandpaper, a little glue, and finishing materials. Tools required are limited. The manual is very complete even on the finishing process.  Levers are optional, see prices below.
